Headquartered in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jirau Capital Management is a scientist-led investment advisory firm at the intersection of breakthrough science providing exposure to the latest advancements in healthcare and innovation. Hector holds a B.Sc. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR). He completed a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry at the UPR School of Medicine, focusing on the discovery of novel metabolic pathways for polygenic respiratory disorders. Dr. Jirau also holds a Master’s degree (MSc.) in Financial Engineering, specializing in risk management in financial derivatives. He has experience managing alternative investments, especially with the successful launch of pooled investment vehicles, such as a biotechnology long-short equity hedge fund and an early-stage venture capital fund expected to deploy capital in Q4 2021. He currently serves on the board of different seed-stage ventures in the healthcare/technology sector.
